Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump as very significant.

Peskov confirmed to the press that the conversation, which the White House announced over the weekend, will take place this Monday at 5:00 p.m. (Moscow Time), and stated it will be very important, considering the previous talks held in Istanbul.

The spokesman, as on previous occasions, promised to provide “as much information as possible” about the outcome of the phone call.

Regarding a possible summit between Putin and Trump, the Kremlin representative said that “the decision is up to the two presidents.” “Such a meeting requires prior work, of course, but the team will adapt to the deadlines they set,” he added.

Peskov emphasized that “the meeting between the presidents must yield results, and for that to happen, it must be well prepared.”

Russia and the United States began to thaw their relations with a phone call from Trump to Putin on February 12, the first since the Republican’s return to the White House.

Six days later, the first meeting of the two countries’ negotiators took place in the Saudi Arabian capital, followed by consultations between the delegations in Istanbul on February 27. On March 18, Putin and Trump held another telephone conversation.
