Pool A

Hosts Italy did their job right on the last day of action in Pool A. On Saturday, the players of coach Angiolino Frigoni secured the first place in the pool, after beating the team of Czechia in straight sets. Both Italy and Czechia will play in one of the top-tier pools of the second stage, challenging each other again, as well as the teams of Belgium and Argentina. Earlier in the day at the Pirastu hall in Cagliari, Thailand celebrated their first win in the competition, after defeating Egypt in four sets.

Pool B

Poland defeated hosts Bulgaria in four sets at Levski Sofia volleyball hall on Saturday to finish Pool B unbeaten on top of the standings. The two teams are set for another encounter in Pool F of the second stage next week, where they will be joined by Russia and Brazil. Also on Saturday, Cuba snatched their first win of the tournament to finish third in the pool.

Pool C

Already qualified for the top tier of the championship, Belgium and Argentina entered a direct clash for the first place in Pool C, with Belgium emerging victorious after four sets at the Palazetto Dello Sport hall in Carbonia, Italy. Both teams will play in Pool E of the second stage, together with Italy and Czechia. Later on Saturday, Iran showed no mercy to Morocco, beating them in three sets.

Pool D
