Rosario Cárdenas Returns to Belkis Ayón
especiales

The Rosario Cárdenas Dance Company is preparing for the world premiere of "Siempre vuelvo" (I Always Return), a tribute to Belkis Ayón, to be held in January at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.
Built from bodily experience and engagement with Ayón's collographs, the piece proposes a dialogue between dance, visual arts, sound, and movement, without relying on traditional narrative, the group explained on social media.
A total of 14 dancers come together on stage for "Siempre vuelvo," a performance directed by Rosario Cárdenas Prieto, a renowned dancer and recipient of the National Dance Prize (2013).
The creation pays tribute to the work of Cuban visual artist Belkis Ayón and her profound exploration of the symbolic universe of our African roots, a season to return to the body, to memory, and to the stage, the invitation continues.
"Siempre vuelvo, visitaciones a Belkis Ayón" features live music by DJ Iván Lejardi, sound manipulations by Juan Piñera, dramaturgy consultation by Raquel Carrió, and costume design by Cris-Cris.
The production also includes the assistance of Yaimé Rodríguez (lighting and set design), Juan Caunedo (audiovisual interventions), Claudio Sotolongo (graphic design), and Daylin Céspedes (photography).
The performance will take place on January 16 and 17 at 7:00 p.m. local time, and on Sunday, January 18 at 5:00 p.m., in the Covarrubias Hall of the National Theater of Cuba.
