Silvio Rodríguez left his mark here with two concerts at the Antel Arena and his reunion with Uruguay, which included greetings from President Yamandú Orsi. The Uruguayan leader attended the Cuban singer-songwriter’s final concert on Saturday, accompanied by renowned local musician Rubén Rada.

This event was originally the sole Uruguayan performance on the tour that Rodríguez began in Havana, continued in Santiago de Chile, and later in Buenos Aires, where he returned for another show in Argentina. However, due to high demand, an additional concert was added on Friday—both played to full houses.

Orsi shared on his social media an intimate encounter with the troubadour in the Antel Arena dressing room, accompanied by Rada. “An unforgettable night we shared with @negrorada. Thank you, Silvio, for the beautiful concert and for all these years of commitment,” wrote the President of Uruguay on his Instagram account, where he also posted photos and videos of the meeting.

Days earlier, Rodríguez had visited Lucía Topolansky at her home in Rincón del Cerro, where they recalled José Mujica, Ernesto “Che” Guevara, and Salvador Allende during a meeting recorded on video by the Popular Participation Movement, a member of the Broad Front coalition. Former Vice President Topolansky also attended the Antel Arena concert. Her arrival, along with that of Orsi and Rada, was met with applause on a night filled with emotion, during which the Cuban artist performed tributes to Pepe Mujica and four great figures of Uruguayan culture: Alfredo Zitarrosa, Daniel Viglietti, Eduardo Galeano, and Mario Benedetti.
