The dance company OtroLado, directed by dancers and choreographers Norge Cedeño and Thais Suárez, will present its season Dentro at Covarrubias ward of the National Theater, Friday November 29 and Saturday November 30 (7:00 p.m.), and Sunday December 1 (5:00 p.m.).

The program includes three pieces that, according to the creators, explore the essence of the group. It’s —they say— an introspective journey to discover and connect with the essences of a poetic feeling.

The presentation includes the pieces Folk Room, Inside and Ritual Garden. Each one represents key moments in OtroLado's artistic career.

Folk Room, premiered at the most recent edition of the Alicia Alonso International Ballet Festival of Havana, highlights the evolution of the experimental process that has defined the work of its creators.

The season marks a new stage for the company, which now has a cast of nine dancers after recent auditions.

Critics have pointed out the refinement and mastery of a technique and the interpretative passion as qualities of OtroLado's artistic language.

The group defines this stage as an effort to overcome limits and explore new forms of creation in contemporary dance.

Founded in 2018 by Norge Cedeño, Thais Suárez and Niosbel González, OtroLado has consolidated a place in the Cuban scene as a space for innovation. This season reaffirms the collective's commitment to reinvention and growth in the art of dance.

Inside (duo version)
Trapped in this room, the space becomes so intimate that it sticks to my skin. The walls come closer and the longings explode into uncertainties and fears. The world beyond my window invites me to dance... loneliness and confinement have their own music.

Direction and Choreography: Norge Cedeño
Music: Erik Satie, Frédéric Chopin & Randy Araujo
Lighting Design: Norge Cedeño
Costume Design: Francesca Missori
Performers: Thais Suárez and Gabriela Pérez

Folk Room (Work in Progress)
Are we the owners of our roots or do they possess us? In an imaginary room, eight characters are trapped by an invisible energy. Prisoners of a visceral impulse that subdues and dominates them, they break loose in a liberating dance that elevates them.

Direction and Choreography: Norge Cedeño
Music: Randy Araujo
Set and Lighting Design: Norge Cedeño
Costume Design: Norge Cedeño
Performers: Thais Suárez, Bryan Beltrán, Gabriela Pérez, Yonger Castellanos, Dalila Morales, Daunis Noblet, Lorena García and Leonard Del Río.
