Neymar Stays at Santos

Brazilian star Neymar has renewed his contract until the end of the year with Santos, the club where he made his professional debut 17 seasons ago. He returned to the club in 2025, following a first cycle during which he celebrated winning the Copa Libertadores, the Recopa Sudamericana, three Campeonato Paulista titles, and the Copa do Brasil.

The 33-year-old friend and former teammate of Argentine champion Lionel Messi at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain did not have the dream return to "Peixe" he envisioned, as he played very little due to injuries that plagued him since his comeback. However, he was pivotal in Santos's fight to remain in the first division of Brazilian football.

The São Paulo-based club has not officially confirmed the contract extension with Neymar, who arrived from Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal. However, it posted a video on social media featuring an aerial view of the Vila Belmiro stadium, hinting at the news under the title: "The moment is approaching."

The Olympic champion at the Rio 2016 Games and Champions League winner with Barcelona in 2014-15, among several other titles, needs to find consistency at Santos if he aims to be called up by Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti to the "Seleção" to compete in the World Cup, which will be held this year in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
