The new TV program of the emblematic Cuban institution Casa de las Americas, available on the Internet, is presented as a unique opportunity to enjoy the cultural diversity of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Casa de las Americas, founded on April 28, 1959, recently celebrated its 65th anniversary and in this context, “The American Expression,” a weekly program with stories and reflections on the regional heritage, was premiered.

The first installment was launched from the headquarters of the Havana-based cultural institution, founded by Haydée Santamaría, in a broadcast entitled “La Casa y Lezama” (The House and Lezama).

This first program, published on Casa de las America’s official YouTube channel, was dedicated to the work of José Lezama Lima, the Cuban author who wrote essays such as The American Expression, which served as an inspiration for this nascent series.

AS Casa de las Americas President Abel Prieto reminds us from the very first minutes of the serioes, there is something very transcendental that distinguishes the American expression, as Lezama said, from other expressions and cultures of the world.
