Last Monday, the U.S. Government announced a series of measures that were labeled by Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs as “positive, but of a limited scope, regarding the granting of visas, regular migration, flights to provinces, remittances, and adjustments to regulations for transactions with the non-state sector.”

To be fair, most of Cubans celebrate them, specially due to the impact they may have on Cuban families on both sides: Cuba and the U.S. Of course, there are always exceptions and such is the case of the enemy of the Cuban Revolution Rosa María Payá, who stated: “it is outrageous the ineptitude of an administration that prefers the approval of a dictatorship and gives in to its migratory blackmail.”

In short, this is another opportunity for everyone to show what they are made of and to whom they work for. But we, the vast majority, agree with our Ministry of Foreign Affairs when it pointed out that “this is a limited step into the right direction,” and some things are also crystal-clear to us:

The measures are far from being an act of good will or a gift. President Biden owed them to his voters, since they respond to certain campaign promises and, on the other hand, they have been a sort of palliative to Trump’s “excess.” They are also the inevitable response to resistance and unity:

That of "if you can't convince them, confuse them" is not going to work with us. We have memory and Fidel to always guide us.

So, dear Joe, as the lyrics of a popular song reads, “keep going in the right direction;” but to trust you, keep straight to the end. We do not want lollipops:

In other few words: #NadaQueAgradecer #ResistirEsVencer
