National Editing Award Granted to Pedro Pablo Rodríguez

The jury of the 2025 National Editing Award agreed this Friday to grant the prestigious recognition to the distinguished professor, historian, and journalist Pedro Pablo Rodríguez, National Prize for Social and Humanistic Sciences winner (2009) and head of the team for the Critical Edition of the Complete Works of José Martí.
The group of experts in charge of the designation, meeting at the Dulce María Loynaz Cultural Center, was presided over by narrator, poet, editor, and screenwriter Olga Marta Pérez, National Editing Prize winner (2015). Jury members included Mercy Ruiz, director of Ediciones ICAIC and National Editing Prize winner (2020); the poet from Pinar del Río and director of the Arte y Literatura Publishing House, Osmany Echevarría; as well as the eminent essayist and researcher Enrique Ubieta; and Norberto Codina, poet, editor, and National Editing Prize winner (2021), with a distinguished career in Cuba.
Considered one of the most serious researchers of the Apostle's legacy, Pedro Pablo Rodríguez has also dedicated himself to the study of various topics related to the history and thought of the Cuban nation.
A Doctor in Historical Sciences, Full Professor and Researcher, born in Havana in 1946, his bibliography includes, among other titles, La primera invasión, De las dos Américas, De todas partes. Perfiles de José Martí, and El periodismo como misión, the latter being a compilation of studies about the Master's journalism.
Rodríguez has also received the Critics' Award, the Distinction for National Culture, the Carlos J. Finlay Order, and the National History Prize for his life's work.
The National Editing Award is granted by the Cuban Book Institute to editors whose career in the publishing world, due to its recognized quality, deserves respect and distinction from their colleagues and from Cuban authors and readers. It is awarded for the collective work of an editor who, throughout their life, has contributed with professionalism, rigor, and ethics to the promotion and development of the Cuban book.
