More than 600 antigen diagnostic kits for the detection of SARS-Cov-2, which identifies the virus in just four hours, will soon be part of the health protocol for asymptomatic patients, digital media reported today.

Developed by the Immunoassay Center, the test joins three other kits to determine IgM, total antibodies (IgG, IgM and IgA, the latter present in mucous membranes), available to the health system from mid-2020.

In the next few days, the scientific institution will also deliver another 1,600 kits, so that our health system will have more than 705,000 diagnostic tests, explained Irina Valdivia Álvarez, deputy director of the area of Development and Production of Diagnosticizers, to the press.

Registered by the State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices, it is a 100 percent Cuban test, both the kit and the raw materials used for its development and production, reports Granma newspaper.

The tests are based on the ELISA (Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay) immunoassay technique, in which Cuba developed and modified the SUMA (Ultra Micro Analytical System) technology, which uses less reagent and sample. The technology includes equipment, reagents and software.
