Mexico exhibits Olmec heads in China

A photographic exhibition on the findings of the famous Olmec Heads of Mexico was opened in the Chongqing municipality in salute to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of relations between Mexico and China.
This is the first time that the Chinese public will be able to attend an exhibition on this subject. The exhibition will last until next July 29th in Museum A of the Federation of Literary and Art Circles of the city.
The event is called Colossal Heads of the Gulf of Mexico, it also has a virtual version and was prepared by the embassy of Mexico, together with the National Institute of Anthropology and History, the Federation and other Chinese entities.
According to the organizers, the exhibition is part of the photographic exhibition “Mexico from all angles, an ever-living past”, it also celebrates half a century of diplomatic ties between the two states.
The purpose is to bring the legacy of the Olmec civilization closer to the Chinese public, the mother culture of all those that flourished in Mexico with a past of more than four thousand years.
Over the course of 144 years, archaeologists discovered the famous heads in three ancient cities of the Olmec civilization: San Lorenzo and Tres Zapotes in the state of Veracruz and La Venta in the state of Tabasco.
