May Day in Cuba in Support of Socialism and the Revolution

Cuba will give its support to socialism and the Revolution today during massive rallies and parades organized this May 1st, International Workers' Day, in plazas and public spaces despite the country's complex economic situation.
Cuban flags and posters alluding to the proletarian holiday adorned the mobilization sites for students, professionals, workers, families, and solidarity groups throughout the Caribbean nation.
The return of the traditional capital march in front of José Martí Revolution Square, interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, will spice up the national celebrations, due to the symbolism of the site, where exactly 25 years ago—on May 1, 2000—historical leader Fidel Castro formulated the concept of Revolution.
Before the country's top leaders, tens of thousands of residents of the capital and more than a thousand foreign guests will express their rejection of the blockade imposed by the United States, which has affected the lives of millions of Cubans for more than six decades.
From this stage, the heroism of the people and the willingness of the working class to continue the national effort for economic recovery, the utilization of the workday, and the increase in exports and food production will be more visible.
Likewise, the Cuban Workers' Federation and its strong union movement will continue to promote industrial production, the materialization of investments in the hydraulic sector, and the diversification of agricultural sectors, among other tasks.
Under the communications campaign "For Cuba Together We Create," which promoted Cuban trade union work, demonstrations in support of the revolutionary process were planned, which are expected to be massive throughout the country.
In traditional and virtual spaces, life stories of workers and union leaders were disseminated, along with promotional videos, television and radio spots, as well as interviews with representatives of various unions that attested to the mobilizing power of workers.
In this context, the participation of workers in massive volunteer work days was highlighted, as well as the revitalization of their artistic and sports movement, which systematically calls for activities in these areas.
As an expression of global support for Cuba, some 1,000 international delegates from more than 30 countries representing 100 union organizations from five continents will march alongside the people and condemn the economic, commercial, and financial blockade that impedes the full development of the country's productive forces.
Cubans will take to the streets and squares of the nation, as they have for 65 years, to express their support for socialism and the Revolution.
