Luanda, Nov 1 (Prensa Latina) A collection of books on the poet and statesman António Agostinho Neto, including some of his literary works, was released today in Angola to celebrate the centenary of the patriot and founding father of this African nation.

According to Arlindo Isabel, from the Mayamba publishing house, the ‘Centenary Collection’ gathers ‘seven titles, seven readings, seven endogenous views’ on the National Hero, which recreate the political and intellectual legacy of Neto (September 17, 1922-September 10, 1979).

Consulted by Prensa Latina, the promoter assured that the proposal to the public stands out for its academic, historical and social value, by offering a set of books coming from researches carried out by outstanding university professors.

Among the writings there is an approach to several poems by Neto from a sociological perspective, which highlights the vision of Angola’s ‘Poeta mayor’ on freedom, the features of national identity and citizenship rights.

There is also a book dedicated to the analysis of the political thought of the African revolutionary leader, from the intellectual perspective of a scholar belonging to generations who did not know Neto in life, but who understand the relevance of understanding the mentors of the State and the nation, for the present and the future of the country.
