Lebanon to defend its borders until the end, FM said

Beirut, Dec 10 (Prensa Latina) Lebanon's Foreign Minister Charbel Wehbe affirmed on Thursday that his country will defend its maritime borders with Israel as long as the negotiations on the issue last.

During a speech broadcast by Al Manar TV station, Wehbe said he will not give up his rights even if the negotiations on the maritime demarcation take 20 years.

Indirect negotiations between Beirut and Tel Aviv, mediated by the United States and the United Nations, are for now suspended due to Israel refused to discuss new Lebanese proposals.

Israel claimed almost half of that maritime border that is part of Block 9 that belongs to Lebanon.

That demand aroused anger between Israel and the US, and the latter is pushing so that Lebanon dismisses that request and even threatens with sanctions.
