Informática 2024 to showcase Cuba’s efforts for a digital society

The leading scientific and exhibition event of information and communication technologies in Cuba, the 19th International Convention and Fair, Informática 2024, opens Monday under the slogan "For a Digital Society."
The scientific event allows the socialization of the results based on research, innovation, and collective development and the use and capabilities offered by information and communication technologies in the transition to a digital society with the necessary learning of citizens to take advantage of its benefits.
According to First Deputy Communications Minister Wilfredo González, about 1,000 delegates from 16 countries are attending the working sessions and learning about implementing public policies related to information and communication technologies developed in Cuba in the last few years.
Several official delegations from India, Iran, Russia, Bolivia, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, a representative of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and other prestigious experts are also participating.
ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin is expected to send a virtual message to the participants at the event’s opening session.
The Convention presents innovative and scientific solutions with an impact on Cuba’s social and economic development strategy, in addition to the growth of the Cuban industry of computer applications and services, with notable progress in software with exportable value.
The opening day includes a high-level panel on digital transformation, challenges, and opportunities. Its agenda includes nine scientific events and eight keynote speeches, among which one is dedicated to essential challenges of artificial intelligence (AI).
