Beijing, Oct 20 (Prensa Latina) The Chinese technology company Huawei will invest 148 million dollars to open its first European cloud service center in Ireland, as part of its global positioning to counteract the offensive that is currently facing from the United States.

According to Huawei executives, the site will create 200 jobs over the next five years, offer services to small and medium-sized companies in Europe, and help Irish firms to expand into new markets.

Huawei has been present in the country since 2004 and its current payroll there exceeds three million workers.

The Chinese company sees it as an important ground for its plans to deploy the Huawei Cloud around the world.

Apart from that firm, in 2020 the Chinese app Tik Tok invested 500 million dollars in Ireland to build a data center and set up a Trust and Safety institution to manage its operations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The popular app thus sought to diversify in the international arena amid pressure by the United States, whose then President Donald Trump wanted it to sell shares to Microsoft or else he would veto it.
