Havana Hosts First Bulgaria-Cuba Friendship Golf Tournament

The first friendship golf tournament between Bulgaria and Cuba took place in Havana on May 6, the Bulgarian Embassy in the Cuban capital said in a Facebook post.

The event was organized by the Embassy and the Havana Golf Club. Taking part were 25 golfers: diplomats, businessmen of international companies and Cuban friends of Bulgaria. 

Addressing those present, Ambassador Todor Kanchevski familiarized them with the significance of May 6 as Day of Valour and of the Bulgarian Armed Forces and thanked the Bulgarian companies that provided the prizes.

In terms of age, the entrants ranged from Marcos Lopez, 83, to Thanushka Janakiraman, 14.

Alvaro Peredo, Angel Vila and Hector Rodriguez placed first, second and third, respectively.

Peredo was also distinguished for the longest drive, and Txema Lopez received the nearest the pin trophy. The special prize went to Guillermo Bernal.
