To date, some two hundred and seventy older adults remain in this modality, as part of the care program aimed at this population segment to guarantee their health and well-being.
Dr. Ivón Piclín Dihigo, head of the department of care for the elderly in the health sector in the province, said that they have a multidisciplinary team with the purpose of contributing to raising the quality of life of these people through assistance, nutrition, rehabilitation and recreational activities with the support of other institutions and organizations.
Despite the economic limitations in the grandparents’ houses and homes for the elderly of the territory, construction works are gradually carried out to improve their comfort and remove architectural barriers.
