Cuban journalist Katiuska Blanco, who has written several texts about Fidel Castro, is one of the guests at the International Book and Social Sciences Fair in the Chilean commune of Recoleta on Thursday.
Blanco, a researcher and essayist, participated on Wednesday, along with Argentine philosopher and professor Nestor Kohan, in a talk about the political references of emancipation in Latin America and will launch one of her titles at the literary event this Thursday.
“I am going to launch the book ‘Todo el Tiempo de Los Cedros’ (All the Time of the Cedar Trees), taking advantage of celebrating 20 years of my first visit to Chile, when Volodia Teitelboim made its launching at the Writers Society,” the author told Prensa Latina.
The volume tells the story of Fidel’s entire family landscape, childhood in Biran, student stage, and youth. According to Volodia, the text is indispensable to situate the origins of the deed that changed America’s history.
Katiuska Blanco is also the author of “Fidel Castro Ruz, Guerrillero del Tiempo. Conversaciones con el lider Historico de la Revolucion Cubana” (Fidel Castro Ruz, Timeless Guerrilla Fighter. Conversations with the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution) and the biography book “Fidel,” a 500-page volume that allows an approach to his thought.
The writer stated, “I have always said that if we are going to assess Fidel, one of the things I consider significant is his determination and radicalism. That is to say, he was never one for halfway measures or concessions. He had to face colossal challenges and, nevertheless, he did not give up.”
Katiuska Blanco participated this week in an event organized by the Jose Marti Corporation in Concepcion to delve into the Commander-in-Chief’s vision about the severe problems affecting humanity, such as neo-fascism and climate change.
