Dominican Organizations Condemn US Warships in the Caribbean Sea

Dominican organizations today condemned the presence of United States warships in the Caribbean near Venezuela and urged the people of the world to stand in solidarity with nations confronting imperialist aggression.
Dominican groups joined the Global Day of Solidarity with Venezuela and for Peace in Latin America and the Caribbean, asserting that the Bolivarian Revolution is a bastion of dignity, sovereignty, and hope.
Flags of both nations and large posters featuring images of the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, and constitutional President Nicolás Maduro, were displayed by Dominicans during the mobilization.
Protesters, raising signs that read "Yankee hands off Venezuela," chanted, "I enlist for Venezuela," and "Venezuela is not a threat, it is a hope."
Isabel Tejeda, a member of the Dominican Campaign of Solidarity with Venezuela, stated that the presence of US ships in the Caribbean Sea is a provocation against the sovereignty of nations.
Tejeda urged countries in the region to unite, adding, "while President Donald Trump advocates for war, we embrace the autonomy of the Caribbean nations and stand with Caracas."
In a statement released today, the Coordination of Solidarity with Venezuela and the Antifascist International, Dominican Chapter, reaffirmed their commitment to defending peace, self-determination, and the independence of nations, "at a time when the imperialist offensive is intensifying."
They maintained that Venezuela, like Nicaragua and Cuba, has the right to build its own political and social model, to freely dispose of its natural resources, and to defend its autonomy without foreign interference.
They called upon the UN and its Security Council to speak out and take action against the interventionist and hegemonic actions of the United States.
