Cuba’s Contemporary Dance: on stage again
especiales
Cuba’s Contemporary Dance (DCC), led by Maestro Miguel Iglesias, will close the month of April with a performing season at the hall of the National Theater of Cuba, and this includes the world premiere of Hands On, choreographed by Greek Yannis Mantsis.
The performance will kick off this Friday Apeil 21st and will continue for two more weekends in its regular schedule: Friday and Saturday night 20:30hrs and Sunday 17:00hrs.
Mantsis’ play addresses natural processes of changes and redefinition that see human being from the will and determination, from the idea that human beings forge their own future without heavenly intervention.
The Greek choreographer recreates an interesting plastic work that makes his vision unique merged with the Cuban company.
The program is completed with one of the most recent premieres of the group, Dust, Words, Shadows, Nothing, by George Céspedes. DCC's resident choreographer proposes a metaphor on communication and other human relationships, on scores by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns.
The performance on April 29 will celebrate International Dance Day.
Tickets will be sold from Tuesday, April 18 at the theater box office.
The Cuba’s Contemporary Dance is the mother company of the Cuban modern dance movement. In its repertoire, works by renowned Cuban and foreign choreographers converge, which have received praise from international critics and have been applauded in large theaters in America and Europe.
