Cuban volleyball advances to Challenger Cup Final

Havana, July 30 (RHC)-- Supported by the attack of Miguel Angel Lopez and Jesus Herrera, Cuba defeated the Czech Republic in three sets (25-22, 25-18 and 25-18) and will advance to the final of the Challenger Volleyball Cup.
In the semifinal duel, the auxiliary Lopez was the top scorer with 17 points and opposite Herrera contributed 14 points, to lead the Cuban action on the way to dispute the only ticket to the 2023 Nations League.
In addition to captain Lopez and left-handed Herrera, the Caribbean team under Nicolas Vives celebrated the contribution of the receiving end Osniel Melgarejo, author of 10 units and center Roamy Alonso, who scored eight points, including four in blocking.
In the collective order, the Caribbean team took advantage of its superiority in attack (41-28) and in the net defense (16-5) to outplay the Czechs and celebrate the second success in the tournament after beating Chile 3-0 in the quarterfinals.
Now the Cuban national team will be looking for the title and the only place in contention for next year's Nations League.
