Guatemala, Mar 22 (Prensa Latina) Cuban national soccer team's coach, Pablo Elier Sanchez, assured on Monday in this capital that his players are ready to defeat Guatemala in the next match of the World Cup qualifiers.
That is what Sanchez responded to Prensa Latina News Agency, after the Cuban team had arrived at La Aurora airport, amid great expectations from the local fans to see in action a young and talented lineup, whose players have been hired in foreign clubs for the first time.
'We know our rival is excellent, but our team has hopes of getting a good result in these games against Guatemala (Wednesday 24) and Curaçao (Sunday 28), and the field will have the last word,' confirmed the coach.
Although soccer is a collective sport, where interrelation is very important, we trust that there is a strong determination by the team to do a good job here, he commented in reference to the fact that on Monday, in Guatemala, they would interact for the first time.
Statistics reflect a balance of two wins (2008 World Cup qualifiers and 2015 Gold Cup) and three defeats in the last five games against Guatemala, the most recent in a couple of friendly matches played here in 2018 ( 0-1 and 0-3).
