Cuba's rowing increased to nine the quotas for the 2nd edition of the Junior Pan American Games of Asuncion 2025, Paraguay, after a letter from the president of the Pan American Confederation (CPR), Maria Arge Diez Gonzalez sent to the Cuban Olympic Committee (COC).
Angel Luis Garcia, head and national commissioner, informed the Cuban News Agency that the news sent to the COC and Cuban Federation highlights that the men's boats qualified for the Paraguayan multi-sport event, from August 9 to 23, are the single (1x), the double pair of short oars (2x), the coxless double (2-) and the four without (4-), the four pair (4x).
The women's boats are the 1x, 4x and 2x, joined by the eight with mixed coxswain (8+), all crewed by eight men and four women.
At the end of the qualifying tournament at the venue of the multisport event, Garcia said that eight tickets had been obtained out of the 10 places in contest, with three silver medals and one bronze one, but now the CPR has added another one.
Now Cuba has until the coming 28th to confirm the modalities in which it will participate, María Arge's letter indicates.
After concluding the qualifier, from 17 to 22 last, Garcia highlighted the two silver medals won on the closing day by the 4x and 4-men, integrated by Roberto Paz, Abel Gutierrez, Henry Heredia and Leduar Suarez.
He added that between the A final and the other they only had one hour of recovery, to which must be added that the 4- is with long oars and the 4x with short oars.
