Strengthening partnerships with foreign companies and non-state management models, as well as promoting containerized transportation, were among the key objectives of Cuba’s Railway Union (UFC) at the recently concluded 3rd International Transport and Logistics Fair (FITL 2025).
René Jesús González Molina, UFC’s General Director, told the Cuban News Agency (ACN) in an exclusive interview that the entity’s current strategy aims to repair stalled and malfunctioning equipment, thereby increasing transportation services.
González Molina noted that FITL 2025 allowed the UFC to showcase the work of all its divisions, particularly freight transportation services. He emphasized that the event provided an opportunity to follow up on major agreements established with various organizations during the 2024 edition of the fair.
The UFC director highlighted that the Railway Union operates seven specialized railway companies and four regional divisions, along with infrastructure entities specializing in production, logistics, communications, signaling, and IT systems.
Regarding rail equipment repair, he explained that the UFC has the installed capacity—particularly in machinery, tools, and workshops—to boost production and offer services to third-party clients.
The 3rd International Transport and Logistics Fair was held from April 1 to 3 at Havana’s Pabexpo exhibition center, featuring over 200 companies from different countries.
