Disseminating Cuban art beyond galleries and saloons, Matanzas province hosts the third edition of the Ríos Intermitentes (Intermittent Rivers) exhibition project, taking place from this Thursday to April 8.

Under the sponsorship of the Cuban Association of Artisans and Artists (ACAA, in Spanish) and the Office of the Curator of Matanzas City, the third edition of Ríos Intermitentes places the territory as a sub-host of the 15th Havana Biennial, aimed at taking art to the community in interaction with the population.

Ríos Intermitentes coordinator Luis Octavio Hernández informed that the cultural event will mark the beginning of the 15th Havana Biennial, which will be held between November 2024 and January 2025.

This time, the Ríos Intermitente’s project will have the collaboration of Cuban and foreign artists. It aims to rescue the province’s heritage and promote this connection, which has in downtown Comercio Street a space where artistic events converge to bring a different art to the neighborhoods, Hernández said.

Guests from Costa Rica, Colombia, and Argentina stand out among those attending the cultural project that will have one of its first activities in the Marina neighborhood on April 5 with the presentation of Costa Rican Carlos Fernández’s project entitled Cooking, Sowing, and Rumba together.

The opening gala of Ríos Intermitentes will take place at the Sauto Theater on April 5 at 20:30 hours, local time, and will include an artistic show, its organizers informed.
