Cuban freestyle gladiator Yusneylis Guzman, in the 50 kilograms (kg), won the ticket to the summer event in Paris, at the Olympic Qualifier of Wrestling of America, held in Acapulco, Mexico.
Guzman, winner of the title at the Pan American Games of Santiago de Chile 2023, achieved three victories to reach that goal, including the semifinals against Canadian Genevieve Morrison, whom she defeated with a score of 6-2.
Her teammates Laura Herin (53 kg) and Angela Alvarez (57 kg) could not win the required places when they fell in the semifinal stage; in previous rounds, Maria Santana (62 kg) and Brenda Sterling (68 kg) had lost.
Herin, silver medalists in the continental multisport event in the Chilean capital, lost 6-9 in the Olympic ticket discussion with US Dominique Olivia Parrish.
In the case of Alvarez, she could not beat Ecuador's Luisa Elizabeth Valverde, who came out on top with a 6-2 score, according to the official website of the World Wrestling Union.
Among the women, Milaimy Marin qualified in the 76 kg with her fifth place in the World Championship in Belgrade, Serbia, last September.
That pre-Olympic tournament in Acapulco grants two quotas in each of the divisions for the Olympic Games in Paris, France, to be held July 26 to August 11 of this year.
