Cuban cultural institution convenes a workshop on testimonial value

Havana, Jun 1 (Prensa Latina) The Juan Marinello Cuban Institute of Cultural Research convened the 7th Workshop on the Value of Testimony in the Teaching of History, made up of professors, researchers and librarians slated for July 7.
From headquarters of that institution, participants will discuss issues related to personal testimonies, family, friends and acquaintances compiled by students of the specialty and the expertise of teachers at work with these experiences.
The workshop will analyze the tools aimed at safeguarding these life stories; the significance of historical memory, first-person accounts and memories, and the methodologies used to rescue this valuable information.
The list of topics also includes the legacy of representatives of the close circle of students; the so-called word archives and their systematic work and the statements of the grandparents, the value of their preservation and the use of teaching frameworks in the process. On November 8, 1995, after a resolution approved by the Ministry of Culture, this center devoted to academic research, improvement and attention to the processes of categorization of the scientific potential of this sector was founded.
In addition to this, it hosts, among others, the Antonio Gramsci Chairs of Studies, devoted to the research of the thought of the great Italian thinker; the Carolina Poncet de Cárdenas, in charge of orality, and the Juan Marinello, specialized in the work of this renowned intellectual.
