Havana, Jan 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuban baseball player Alfredo Despaigne on Wednesday renewed his contract in the Nippon Professional Baseball with the Softbank Hawks for one year through the signing of a contract by both parties.
After the signing, Despaigne, one of Cuba’s best players of this decade, expressed his satisfaction for playing in Japan, where, according to him, there are many talented players.
He also spoke about the challenges he will have to face this year, with a team that won three consecutive seasons (2017-2020) and was later eliminated in 2021.
The 35-year-old baseball player also said that he would like to play with the team of his province, Granma, in the Cuban Baseball League, and with the Cuban national team at international events.
In addition to Despaigne, pitcher Livan Moinelo and third baseman Yurisbel Gracial also renewed their respective contracts with the Softbank Hawks on Tuesday.
