Havana, Sep 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuban artists recognize the guarantee of rights the new Family Code envisions and add their voices today in support of the law that will be put to a popular vote on Sunday 25th.
“I say yes because this proposal expands the rights of Cuban society,” said the deputy director of the National Museum of Fine Arts, Oscar Antuña, who called for its approval for the protection it offers to the most diverse models of family organization.
Likewise, singer Niurka Reyes, who joined the promotional adds made by the Cuban Ministry of Culture, expressed her support to the document which, in her opinion, is democratic because it gives equal voice to all without preferences or discrimination.
In line with such statements, the Casa de las Americas cultural institution will hold the panel ‘To defend love and hope’, which will be held next Wednesday at 10:00 local time, with the presence of prominent researchers from the Caribbean nation.
Theater critic Jaime Gomez Triana will be the moderator of the event, which will be attended by the vice president of the National Union of Jurists of Cuba, Yamila Gonzalez, as well as writers Laidi Fernandez de Juan, Zaida Capote, Victor Fowler and Abel Prieto.
The list of personalities invited to the meeting at the Che Guevara Hall also includes journalists Fernando Ravsberg and Lazaro Manuel Alonso; theologian Daylins Rufín, musician Pancho Amat and actor Kike Quiñones.
The event, which will take place on the occasion of the upcoming vote for the new Family Code, owes its name to one of the verses of the poet Roberto Fernandez Retamar, who was director of the regional entity until his death on July 20, 2019.
