Havana, Aug 27 (Prensa Latina) A total of 3,806 people have been diagnosed in Cuba with Covid-19, following the 47 news cases health authorities reported on Thursday.

Doctor Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology of the Public Health Ministry, said in a press conference that the country accumulates 377, 494 PCR tests carried out in molecular biology laboratories, while no deaths were reported, thus the death toll remains at 92.

Duran reiterated that it is worrying the appearance of new outbreaks, especially in Havana with a great dispersion of positive cases in almost all its municipalities.

The provinces of Artemisa, Pinar del Rio and Matanzas have also been reporting scattered cases. The latest cases in Matanzas, for instance, are from an outbreak in Cardenas.

The 47 detected the day before are all Cuban (23 women and 24 men), 40 were contacts of previously confirmed cases and in seven of them the source of infection is not specified, while 38 were asymptomatic.

Among the new cases four are minors under 18 years old, bringing the total to 395 diagnosed at pediatric age, with 362 already recovered.

Until yesterday, 1,024 people had been admitted for clinical-epidemiological surveillance, another 478 are in the category of suspected cases, while 517 are active patients, of whom 496 show a stable clinical evolution.

There are six patients in critical condition and 15 seriously ill, explained the doctor.

Likewise, 36 patients who had recovered were released from hospital bringing the total of recoveries up to 3.195, for 84% recovery rate. Since Covid-19 broke out in Cuba in early March the government launched health plan that has helped to stop and control the spread of SARS-Cov2, but since late July there has been a rise in the confirmed.

Duran insisted on the high risk for everyone that this disease represents due to its fast transmission, hence the repeated call for responsible behavior in the compliance with isolation, protection and epidemiological surveillance measures.
