Cuba Suffers Third Setback at Handball World Championship

The Cuban women's handball team suffered its third defeat today in Stuttgart at the 2025 World Championship in Germany and the Netherlands.
The Caribbean squad fell decisively to the Czech Republic (21-44), in what was its final opportunity to secure a victory in the group phase and advance to the main round. The Czech left back, Charlotte Cholevová, finished the match with 11 goals from as many attempts, while for Cuba, Jennifer Toledo and Lorena Téllez scored six goals each.
Previously, the Caribbean team was soundly defeated by Sweden (17-46) and Brazil (20-41) in its initial outings in Group G.
Nevertheless, the team led by Jorge Coll will not return home, as the eliminated teams will compete for the President's Cup, which will determine placements from 16th to 24th.
