Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed dismay Thursday at the assassination attempt on Argentine Vice President Cristina Fernández while greeting people outside her home in Recoleta, Buenos Aires.
On Twitter, the Cuban president expressed his solidarity with the vice president, the Argentine government, and the people.
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez also condemned the attack and expressed the island's support to the government and people of the South American country.
The Argentine vice-president suffered an attempted attack Thursday when an armed subject, already identified, pointed a pistol inches away from her face and tried to pull the trigger. However, the weapon failed, according to preliminary investigations.
The multinational news channel Telesur broadcasts images of the moment where the aggressive action can be seen while Fernandez covers her face and ducks her head to evade the attack.
