Cuba provides health, well-being to Turks and Caicos people

The Cuban Henry Reeve Medical Brigade continues today providing health and well-being to the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands, as evidenced by the consultation care of more than six thousand patients by the end of August 31.
According to the statistical report, the contingent of health workers from the largest of the Antilles offered hospital services to around 6,105 residents of this British overseas territory between July 15 and August last, of which 604 were children under the age of one year.
In the midst of the local response against Covid-19, Cuban professionals saved the lives of 34 citizens, while pediatric specialists attended 40 deliveries, of which 28 resulted in caesarean operations, to boost the islands' birth rate.
According to the report provided to Prensa Latina via the internet, the Cuban health group registered a total of 29 surgical operations at this stage of patients with Covid-19, 12 of them in older patients and 17 in infants.
Likewise, the Henry Reeve internationalists carried out 6,306 nursing procedures to reinforce health services in the Turks and Caicos Islands after accumulating 614 infected by Covid-19, five deaths and 264 recovered patients.
The brigade of 20 health workers from the largest of the Antilles arrived in the British overseas territory on June 15 and after completing the quarantine period, they share their experience at the InterHealth Canada Hospital.
In mid-August, the Minister of Health, Edwin Astwood, reported that the government of Turks and Caicos Islands officially requested an extension of the initial three-month contract for the Cuban medical contingent, in order to contain Covid-19 and offer care for other pathologies.
