Cuba with Maylín and Estrada in World Master in Budapest

Cuba will present today judokas Maylín del Toro and Magdiel Estrada in the second day of the World Masters in Budapest, Hungary, a first-level tournament where 432 athletes -227 men and 205 women- from 56 countries, selected by the world ranking, participate.
According to the International Federation website www.ijf.org, Maylín, in the 63 kilograms (kg), and Estrada (73 kg) will seek to reach the podium, after the failed attempt this Friday by Arnaes Odelín (57 kg).
Arnaes lost against a Wazari in her debut in group B to French Priscila Gneto, London 2012 Olympic titleholder, who finally finished in fifth place -fought for bronze-.
Maylín and Estrada, numbers 20 and 15 of the ranking will open actions in pools B and C against the Israeli Gili Sharir and the Georgian Lasha Shavdatuasvili, respectively, with a stage at the Papp Lázló Arena in Budapest.
Their rivals will be tough since Gili is the bronze medalist in the mixed team event of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and Shavdatuasvili, gold, silver and bronze medalist in the summer events of London 2012, Tokyo 2020 and Rio de Janeiro 2016, in that order.
On Sunday, the last day of the contest, Iván Silva (B) and Andy Granda (B), fifteenth and eleventh in the ranking will be on the mats against the Romanian Alex Cret, bronze in the Guayaquil 2022 youth world cup, and the Georgian Saba Inaneisvili, gold in the mixed team of the European championship in Ufa, Russia, 2021, respectively.
Japan leads the medal table so far with three gold and two bronze, followed by France (1-1-0) and Canada (1-0-0), the three nations that own the four gold medals that were in dispute this Friday.
