Cuba to host World Telecommunications Summit

From March 11 to 13, the Cuban resort city of Varadero will host the World Youth Summit of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

According to the website www.radio26.cu, the summit, to be held at the Meliá Internacional Varadero Hotel, will become an opportunity to amplify the voices of young people in Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs).

Under the auspices of the ITU and the Cuban Ministry of Communications (Mincom), the Summit will focus its debates on the challenges and opportunities presented by emerging technologies for worldwide development.

According to the press release, among the topics to be addressed in the working sessions are the digital empowerment of new generations, the reduction of the digital skills gap, artificial intelligence and sustainability, and the impact of transformative technologies.

The designation of Cuba as host of the great event is evidence of the ITU’s international recognition of the leading role played by the youth of Cuba in the current technological processes the country is undergoing.

Matanzas, Cuba, 26 feb (Prensa Latina) Del 11 al 13 de marzo venideros la ciudad balneario cubana de Varadero acogerá la Cumbre Mundial de la Juventud de la Unión Internacional de las Telecomunicaciones (UIT).

Cuerpo : Según informa el sitio web www.radio26.cu, la lid, que tendrá como sede el Hotel Meliá Internacional Varadero, devendrá una oportunidad para amplificar las voces de los jóvenes en las Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones (TICs).

Bajo el auspicio de la UIT y el Ministerio de las Comunicaciones de Cuba (Mincom), la Cumbre centrará sus debates en torno a los desafíos y oportunidades que presentan las tecnologías emergentes para el desarrollo a nivel mundial.

De acuerdo al medio de prensa, entre los tópicos a abordar en las sesiones de trabajo se encuentran el empoderamiento digital de las nuevas generaciones, la reducción de la brecha de competencias digitales, la inteligencia artificial y la sostenibilidad, y el impacto de las tecnologías transformadoras.

La designación de Cuba como anfitriona de la magna cita evidencia el reconocimiento internacional de la UIT al rol protagónico de los jóvenes de la Mayor de las Antillas en los procesos tecnológicos actuales que vive el país.
