World classical dancers are putting the finishing touches on the 29th International Meeting of Ballet Teaching Academies from March 22 to 30, which will be dedicated to Fernando Alonso's 110th birthday.
Alonso was an indispensable pillar along with Alicia and Alberto in the path towards the consolidation of the art of ballet in Cuba, which is why this figure will be remembered with an extensive program that includes classes, lectures, workshops, courses for teachers and competitions, Cubaescena’s website reported.
To date, around 70 academies from the Americas and Europe have confirmed their attendance, with the presence of nearly 230 participants from different countries, including El Salvador, Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica, Colombia, the United States, Italy and the Netherlands.
Teachers, students and dancers will gather in Havana to participate in the meeting, which will analyze core issues of the pedagogy of academic dance.
Participants will also share criteria based on different techniques, styles, training, choreographic creation and other elements from national and foreign experiences.
