Cuba’s Foreign Ministry today praised this country’s relations with Cape Verde, in a message on the X social network.

Both Cuba and Cape Verde are celebrating the 49th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Foreign Ministry said.

“We ratify the will to continue strengthening the ties of brotherhood and cooperation between the two nations,” the text adds.

For almost five decades, Cuba has contributed to the training of dozens of Cape Verdeans in different specialties, in addition to providing assistance in various sectors, including sports and health.

The African nation, meanwhile, has supported the island in the presentation of the annual report on the damages of the U.S. government’s blockade at the United Nations.

In 2022, both states signed a communiqué on cooperation in education and health, featuring technical assistance and exchanges in early childhood education and care for children, teenagers and young people with special educational needs, among other matters.

In 2020, Havana dispatched doctors in the Henry Reeve international specialized contingent, to fight the Covid-19 pandemic in Cape Verde.

Cape Verde is a sovereign African island state located in the Atlantic Ocean, stretching over 4,000 square kilometers and populated by over 593,000 inhabitants.
