Organized by the Juan Marinello Cuban Institute of Cultural Research (ICIC), the workshop Digital Technologies: Challenges and Best Practices With and For Children and Adolescents is being held at the institute’s headquarters in Havana.

Debating the Digital Environment for Youth
Running through Thursday, the event brings together researchers, educators, psychologists, audiovisual creators, community projects, and families to discuss how children and adolescents interact with the digital environment.

The theoretical gathering celebrates the 30th anniversary of the ICIC and provides a space to analyze challenges and share positive experiences that promote a safer, more creative, and empowering use of technology.

The workshop also pays tribute to the ICAIC Animation Studios on their 65th anniversary.

Workshops, Panels, and Cultural Activities
As part of the celebration, a workshop for teenagers titled “Film Narration with the Mobile Phone,” conducted by Bulgarian filmmaker Andrei Hadjvasilev, took place last Monday.

The event’s agenda also featured a theatrical performance of “La Cucarachita Martina y El Ratoncito Pérez” by ArteSoy, a cultural project from the western province of Mayabeque.

Panel discussions explored contemporary topics such as Artificial Intelligence in education, cyberbullying, identity formation on social networks, parental and family mediation, participatory audiovisual production, the promotion of responsible digital citizenship, and empowerment through programming and robotics.

A Comprehensive Look at Cuba’s Digital Landscape
Researchers from the University of Havana, ICIC, the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), and various community initiatives presented studies and practical experiences developed in Cuba, offering a comprehensive and up-to-date view of the digital landscape for new generations.
