A press release from the Cuban embassy in Italy indicates that the diplomat presented her arguments in the debate on item 10 of the meeting's agenda, focused on the aftermaths of the pandemic on food security and food systems.
In this sense, the official pointed out that the main attention is focused on preserving the health of the population, in addition to planting short-cycle crops, along with the preparation to respond to the cyclone season and agricultural drought.
She also highlighted how 'in the midst of this health and climate situation, the population faces daily the negative impacts of the application of sanctions and unilateral measures contrary to international law.'
In her speech, according to the press release, the Permanent Representation of Cuba called on the FAO's member States to 'express solidarity and cooperation, leaving aside political differences', while calling for 'not to use food as a form of political pressure.'
