The Territorial Publishing System (SET) captured the attention of the organizers of the Havana International Book Fair, who celebrated its 25th anniversary on Friday.
Gretchen Menéndez, director of Editorial Oriente, who is in charge of the SET stand at the Morro-Cabaña Fortress, explained to Prensa Latina that the system’s publishing houses are distinguished by giving space to young writers from all over Cuba.
Amid the difficult situation that the country is going through, these 21 publishing houses based in several provinces continue to print new books, she said.
Cuban Book Institute President Juan Rodríguez highlighted the role of the SET, which has not stopped, despite the complex economic situation, and now they are also betting on the digital format.
He pointed out that more should be known about how these provincial publishing houses remain active and give opportunities to young writers.
Precisely, among the novelties of the 18th International Book Fair of Havana is a room dedicated to the Territorial Publishing Editions, created 25 years ago by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.
