Beijing, Sep 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuban representatives on Friday participated in two events hosted by China to promote cooperation in the scientific-technological sphere and the publication of literary works.

Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero spoke on a video conference, at the opening ceremony of the 2021 Zhongguancun Forum, at which he emphasized the importance of science, technology and innovation to face current challenges.

Marrero highlighted Cuba's potential in those spheres, despite the financial, economic and commercial blockade imposed by the United States for more than 60 years.

Commenting on the close ties between Cuba and China in biotechnology, the minister mentioned the two nations' experiences in technology transfer, innovation registries, joint ventures and the fight against Covid-19.

For his part, Juan Rodriguez, president of the Cuban Book Institute, was virtually present at the Belt and Road Forum on Cooperation and Publications, held at Renmin University on Friday.

Cuban publishers Nuevo Milenio, Editorial Jose Marti, and Pueblo y Educacion are part of this mechanism.
