Cuba formalized in San Salvador the registration of the delegation that will represent us at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023, made up of 504 competitors from 36 disciplines.

José Antonio Miranda, deputy head of the island's athletic embassy, recalled that both figures are in line with the calculations just presented after the latest adjustments to the calendar reported by organizers.

He specified that there will be 365 tests with the participation of his country in the event that will live its opening ceremony on June 23rd at the Jorge "Mágico" González stadium, in whose outdoor areas work is still being done with intensity.

With stars Julio César La Cruz (boxing) and Idalys Ortiz (judo) as standard bearers, Cuba will also have among its highest-ranking figures other Olympic and world champions on various sports, and intends to win between 70 and 80 medals to secure a place in the scoreboard.

"The predominant environment is highly motivated and highly committed to a performance that satisfies our people, beyond the number of medals," Miranda said before announcing that the first arrival of Cuban athletes, coaches, and officials to the Salvadoran capital will be on June 19th.

Asked  about the stellar canoeist Yarisleidis Cirilo, he confirmed that she will not row in the fair due to the cancellation of the tests in which she would take part, but she will travel as a special guest.

The delegation will be flagged next Saturday in Havana.
