Cienfuegos, on behalf of all Cuba, commemorated National Rebellion Day

Havana, July 27 (RHC)-- The central act for the 69th anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, held in Cienfuegos, was dedicated to the scientists who created the Cuban vaccines against COVID-19, to the workers of Public Health and the electro-energy sector, as well as to the youth, recognized as "the heroes of our time".

The commemoration of the National Rebellion Day was presided over by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution; and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic, with the eternal presence of the undefeated Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

Some 10,000 Cienfuegos people from different sectors, together with members of the Centennial Generation, members of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party, the Council of State and Ministers, as well as the main leaders of the political and mass organizations, attended this event convened by the history of the Homeland.

Delivering the central words of the event -- in front of a square overflowing also with friends of solidarity with Cuba -- the Head of State acknowledged that "it is up to our generation to assault the fortresses of economic inefficiency, bureaucracy, insensitivity, hatred", and added that "we are going to make a better country ourselves!".

Referring to what the Revolution is and represents today, the President said "I am very clear about some terms: democracy and popular participation, humanism, will to transform, creativity, innovation, commitment, ideals and revolutionary passion." 

Maridé Fernández López, first secretary of the Party of the province, affirmed that "Cienfuegos that works, lives and grows feeling proud and happy to celebrate in its streets, parks, houses and hearts the great Cuban day of July" the date of July 26 here, takes on greater relevance at the gates of the 65th anniversary of the armed popular uprising of September 5.

She added that today the province is proud of the results achieved by its people, especially young people, "who have known how to raise Fidel's name high, reproduced in each one of them. There has been no task, no matter how difficult it may be, where they have not been present. Today the applause is for the people and their young people", she acknowledged.

Both the First Secretary of the Party in Cienfuegos and Díaz-Canel described a revolutionary process that maintains and defends as a guide the principles of social justice for which 69 years ago the Centennial Generation confronted Batista's tyranny to fulfill a program that since then demands constant transformation.

Representatives of the local culture such as the female quartet Collage and the Abrakadabra company, and consolidated artists and groups such as Arte Mixto, the Novo Brothers, the Trovarroco duo, and troubadour Nelson Valdés -who paid tribute in his performance to singer-songwriter Lázaro García Gil, who died in April this year-, enlivened the dawn in front of the bay of Cienfuegos, in remembrance of a glorious deed of Cuba and its people.
