China sanctioned two US defense firms, Lockheed Martin (LMT.N) and Northrop Grumman (NOC.N), for providing weapons to Taiwan.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lockheed Martin Corp’s branch in Missouri acted as a prime contractor in an arms sale to Taiwan, and the Northrop Grumman firm has repeatedly participated in such transactions.
“Ignoring China’s resolute opposition, the US Government insists on providing weapons to the Taiwan region of China, which violates the one-China principle,” Spokeswoman Mao Ning stressed.
She said this action “seriously violates international law and the basic regulations of international relations, seriously harms China’s sovereignty and security interests and goes further down the wrong and dangerous path of arming Taiwan.
The Foreign Ministry has reiterated that Taiwan is an inalienable part of the national territory and China’s internal affairs that does not allow interference by any external force.
China-US relations have hit the worst moment in history due to the US economic war and its interference in domestic issues such as in the case of Taiwan.
