Chile's authorities assure everything is ready for elections
Interviewed by Radio Universo, the high official said that the SERVEL had been prepared before April 11 when the elections were scheduled, postponed due to the worsening of the health Covid-19 situation.
He pointed out that 'we have had one more month to review the material and make sure that everything is ready' and informed that next Thursday will begin the occupation of the polling stations by the military, police and civil servants who will watch over the normal development of the process.
Tagle recalled that on both Saturday and Sunday the voting hours will be from 08:00 to 18:00 local time, and that people will be free to choose which of the two days to vote.
However, he noted that senior citizens, pregnant women and people of risk groups will have preference to vote, but he recommended them to go after 14:00 hours because at those hours there is less affluence of public.
He also called on the population to strictly comply with the sanitary measures to avoid contagion of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus through the correct use of facemasks and the maintenance of social distancing.
