Havana, Jan 28 (Prensa Latina) The Havana-based Casa de las Americas will announce in this capital the names of the winners of the 62nd edition of its literary contest, it was reported on Friday.

The announcement will be made this afternoon at the Che Guevara Hall of that institution, which has since January 24 hosted interesting meetings among poets, narrators, essayists and intellectuals from several countries of the continent.

Argentina is one of the nations with the highest participation, in addition to Cuba, Mexico and Colombia, after the interruption of the contest in 2021 due to the complex epidemiological situation caused by Covid-19.

In order to do justice in the literary contest, a dozen guests arrived in Cuba, while others will decide virtually from their countries of origin, after analyzing all 140 selected works.

The jury is made up of Ecuadorian publisher Santiago Vizcaino and narrators Dazra Novak (Cuba), Mayra Montero (Puerto Rico) and Claudia Apablaza (Chile), who are members of the Novel jury.

The Essay jury is made up of Carlos Aguirre (Peru), Mario Santucho (Argentina) and Yoel Cordovi (Cuba); and in Poetry, Jorge Boccanera (Argentina), Rosa Chavez (Guatemala) and Basilia Papastamatíu (Cuba-Argentina) will choose the winners.
