Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said Friday that the rejection of the U.S. blockade against the island was a recurring point in the high-level segment of the UN General Assembly.
'Among the 8 most discussed topics in the speeches of the high-level debate of #UNGA76 was the call for the lifting of the inhumane US blockade against #Cuba, deliberately tightened in the midst of the pandemic,' the incumbent wrote on his personal Twitter account.
The foreign minister said that in this way the international community reaffirmed its continued demand for the cessation of Washington's siege.
Since last week, when the high-level segment of the 76th session of the General Assembly began, numerous governments and high-level representatives of international organizations have condemned the blockade against Cuba.
In his speech before the plenary, the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, opposed the obsolete US blockade and denounced that Washington wants to impose its will on the island, Venezuela and Nicaragua.
For his part, the Syrian Foreign Minister, Faisal Mekdad, condemned the economic, commercial and financial siege of the United States against Cuba.
Representatives from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Bahamas, Grenada, Laos, Lesotho, Gambia, Benin, among other countries, also demanded an end to the blockade.
