The 62nd edition of the National Baseball Series in Cuba will start today with eight challenges in the same number of provinces.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Mártires de Barbados stadium in Bayamo, which will witness a historic event, as for the first time four women will be the referees.

For the clash between champion Granma and runner-up Matanzas, the already renowned Yanet Moreno will be joined by Miroslava Cumbá at first base, Yalili Acosta at second base and Milagro Quiñones at first base.

On this opening day, Ciego de Avila-Industriales will also play at the Latinoamericano stadium in Havana, and Cienfuegos-Villa Clara at the Augusto Cesar Sandino stadium in Santa Clara.

Likewise, Camagüey-Sancti Spiritus will play at the Jose Antonio Huelga stadium, Isla de la Juventud-Las Tunas at the Julio Antonio Mella stadium, Mayabeque-Holguin at the Calixto Garcia stadium, Artemisa-Santiago de Cuba at the Guillermon Moncada stadium and Pinar del Rio-Guantánamo at the Nguyen Van Troi stadium, always at the home of the latter.
