The Cuban Cinematheque presents the cycle called as 'El público escoge sus pelícluas (los años setenta)' as part of its tireless work in order to preserve, refurbishing and showing films from all over the world.
As a result of a strict popular vote, there were a group of films that were chosen and were premiered in those years and some of them are the ones entitled:
'The messenger' (England). Acclaimed director Joseph who included two outstanding actors such as Julie Christie and Alan Bates to represent some lovers who use a boy as a connection for their secret loves.
The always requested 'The orchestra man' (France-Italy) with the popular actor Luis De Funes showing his endless and always present humor.
Based on a novel by Max Cotto, it will be shown the film entitled 'The war of Murphy' (England) and we shall see the indispensable Peter O'Toole playing the main role.
The cartoon for adults will be also present through the one entitled 'The wild planet' (France-Czechoslovakia) which is a prize-wining short film of science fiction that is a classic one that was grated the Special award by the movie Canned Jury.
Paul Newman and Robert Redford worked together again in the film entitled 'The blow' (the United States) which won up to 7 Oscar awards.
Gene Kelly, who is the great choreographer and dancer, was the director of the film entitled 'Hello Dolly' (the United States) in which we could see Luis Amstrong and Barbara Streisand singing together.
That magnificent Czech producer named Milos Forman directed the film entitled 'Hair' (the United States) and we may get to see the hit entitled 'Aquarius'.
The Russian renowned actor Vlacheslav Tijonov leads the cast list of the film entitled 'White Bim, Black sheep' (Russia). It is a premiere of the Cuban Cinematheque which was granted an Oscar award nomination as the best film of non-English-speaking nations.
The current experienced actor and director Clint Eastwood can be watched in his early years on the screen through his character named 'The dirty Harry' (the United States) by giving that name to that classic film of the action movie.
Nominated to the Golden Globe award as the best foreign film, it was the full-length film entitled 'stage of siege' (France-Italy) that was directed by Constantin Costa Gavras and had Yves Montand playing the main role.
